Legacy Coach

Hello! I’m Wesley Hardin, a Legacy Coach at Reflections Counseling and Coaching Center. I am a legacy coach because I love to help people to figure out what is most important to them, who is most important to them, what they have learned from their rich experiences in life so far, and how to pass that on to the next generation.

I have always seemed to have a sort of legacy mindset, even since childhood. I used to mow grass as a young teenager for several elderly neighbors, and I would actually enjoy sitting down afterwards with a glass of pop or iced tea and listening to them share stories from their long lives. I remember when we moved in with my handicapped grandparents in my late teens, I’d sit there for hours and listen to Papaw and Mamaw tell stories, and I could see how truly happy and proud it made them feel that someone really cared to listen. I’ve tried to do the same with all of my grandparents and, as a result, I know I have received a rich legacy from them. I practice medicine in an office where most of our patients are elderly. I can’t tell you how many have told me they enjoy seeing me because I take time to listen to them and care about what they have to say. And I do care. This to me is one of the most important missions we have as people. We need to care enough about one another to truly listen. We all have a story, and we all want to know our story matters to someone, that it makes a difference.

As for my resume, here are some highlights:

In 1997 I graduated Salutatorian of my high school class and was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. There I studied the Pre-Med track, majoring in Biology with a minor in Philosophy of Science.

In 2001 I married my high school sweetheart. We are still living happily ever after, only now with three cute kids and an ugly dog.

In 2002 I graduated from Wayne State with a BS in Biology. At that point my wife and I ventured out to Illinois to study at Wheaton College where I studied Christian Theology. While attending Wheaton, I had the privilege of teaching High School Chemistry and Physics at Hales Franciscan High School in the projects on the south side of Chicago. I was also blessed with the opportunity to serve as an itinerant preacher with the Evangelical Formosan Church of Chicago.

In 2004 I graduated from Wheaton College with a MA in Christian Theology. We then moved back home to Metro Detroit to help care for my mother-in-law who had recently suffered a stroke. I took a position as high school and middle school science teacher at U of Detroit Jesuit High School where I enjoyed educating inner city kids for five years. During that time I also started Meaningful Science Ministries and did numerous science experiment shows, as well as seminars on the history and philosophy of science from a Christian perspective.

In 2005 I became a father when my first little girl was born. Since then, we’ve been blessed with another girl and a little boy. Like James Dobson said, “I’ve had many titles in life, but none more important than Dad.” These kids mean the world to me and I pray everyday for God’s help to raise them well and to leave them a great legacy.

In 2006, my wife and I teamed up with some old friends to create a series of mystery dinner party games that people can play in their own homes. We turned it into a small business called Supper Sleuths that runs virtually completely automated in the background providing some passive income. We have enjoyed watching people build community and create hilarious memories with this powerful and fun tool.

In 2009 I decided to go back to the field of medicine and entered the PA program at Wayne State University. After graduation in 2011 we moved our growing family down to sunny Florida where we still reside. The first weekend in Florida we discovered a welcoming community waiting for us at Bayside Community Church, and have enjoyed serving in their children’s ministry ever since.

In 2012 my wife and I started Reflections Counseling and Coaching Center, and since then thanks be to God we’ve helped well over 1000 individuals and families! We’d love for you to be yet another we can serve. I am accepting new clients, but have limited availability. If you’d like to work with me, then schedule an appointment here!

Looking forward to living a legacy with you!
