There’s so much to be said for the innovations of 2020. Literally we realize that our lives may be over without so many researchers coming up with new ways of pivoting and designing quick inventions as well.
Yet sometimes loving and living with one of these head types, or as we know them in Enneagram language, 5’s, 6’s, or 7’s, isn’t always easy!
I know this firsthand, being in this grouping, and as much as we are so happy when we get to exercise our brain power (aka just nerds being nerds LOL), we get frustrated with ourselves too, trust me! Sometimes we miss opportunities to be soft and gentle with the hearts of our people in our rush to bring safety to everyone, and words, our typical superpower, fail us.
We end up over-talking or under-talking or saying the wrong thing altogether. I often miss my own feelings in fact, and run from them, feeling overwhelmed at the first sight of them (I however LOVE problem-solving for others as do most all the thinking types :). It’s HARD work for us to be intentional to stay with the feelings and to be soft and vulnerable and present, just as other people have other struggles.
It can be done, however. I share on today’s episode that choosing to “go there” and to make emotional art for my childhood bestie (she’s a 4) was a huge blessing to our thirty-plus years of friendship this Christmas. When I shared it (a song I wrote) we were both crying even as I internally vowed “never again” lol, knowing there would hopefully be many more special times like this in my life.
Today’s episode is a peek into the heart and the etiology of a thinking-based type, growth tips and them and their spouses, and a reflection of what I’ve learned from those I’ve interviewed and been able to journey with in my life and practice.
I hope you feel this episode is power-packed for you and your people as you do your absolute best to grow together and to learn about the survivalist triad, the researching, innovative 5, the resilient, planning 6, and the encouraging, problem-solving 7.
As we close out this unexpectedly difficult year, I also tried to bring in a spirit of joy and gratitude to this episode in relation to how far we’ve come. We really have indeed been through a lot as a culture and you’re still here! (You’re quite the survivalist yourself!)
Let’s move forward with wisdom and joy about our next steps as well as we cross into 2021!
I’m doing a challenge next week too, so make sure you get onto our email list too at the bottom of this page, if you’re not yet subscribed! 🙂
Love Living Intentionally With You,
Christa
